How to prepare for your professional headshot

A quick guide for a successful outcome.

However you feel about having your photo taken, we want to make the most of this opportunity to show your best self.

  • Hair neat (Bonus points for having a blowdry beforehand - you will thank yourself for years to come.)

  • A bold lip is great if that fits with your style. Consider the image you wish to project to your clients; neutral makeup will highlight your best features and not detract from the message you want to convey to your audience.

  • Keep jewellery minimal, subtle and classic (we don’t want to notice it before we notice your face)

  • Clothing - small pops of colour are okay; however, stick to solid colours wherever possible, in classic business shades of blues, white, navy and black.

  • Jackets/blazers or a smart cardigan add interest and formality and breaks up the colour of the shirt or blouse.

  • Avoid short sleeves.

  • Avoid bold patterns and florals

  • Please visit the mirror before taking your photo and check your grooming.

  • Try to get a good night's sleep and stay hydrated.

  • Breathe and relax.

  • And then, break the rules. If you are your brand, then be playful and personal with your wardrobe. Consider making an appointment with a stylist or wardrobe consultant. It will pay dividends.
